Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm Review
When it comes to lip products it doesn’t seem like a girl can ever have to many, we have hundreds in our makeup drawers, another hundred in our makeup bag, and handbag.. And car.. And.. Wait how did that end up in the kitchen draw? Even though we have a never ending supply of lip products YES we really do need that new lipstick, and whilst we are at it we also need that plumping lip gloss, that long wear lip stain
and of course that ever so wearable tinted lip balm such as Burt’s Bee’s Tinted Lip Balm.
The moisturising and hydration properties of Burt’s Bee’s Tinted lip balms are more then sufficient, in fact I think they even work better then some basic un-tinted lip balms; perhaps its the fact that they don’t contain any harsh chemicals or fillers such as petroleum or maybe it’s just the fact that Burt’s Bee’s just does some fantastic products! This lip balm provides full hydration and leaves my lips feeling and looking silky, soft, supple, healthy and moisturised. Yes all five of them, it does them all.
These tinted lip balms have a strong pigmentation factor and I mean strong, I was pleasantly surprised by the pigmentation other tinted lip balms I’ve tried look nothing similar to the colour in the tube but this one is practically spot on, it contains a good pigment whilst still remaining subtle enough to be worn even when teamed with dramatic looks such as smokey eyes and still subtle enough to be applied when you don’t have a mirror on hand. My introduction to these Burt’s Bee’s Lip balms was with the shade Pink Blossom which is the perfect companion to an everyday look worn in the office or during classes, it’s a subtle nude pinky shade close to most peoples natural lip colour but just gives a little bit more colour.
Staying power is one of the most common issues I have with lip products, they tend to fade within minutes of application in which case I sometimes have to ask myself “did I remember to apply my lipstick this morning?” and to be perfectly honest I wasn’t expecting anything less from these tinted lip balms but I was wrong, very wrong. On my first day of trialing this particular lip balm I applied it around mid morning and by late afternoon they were still there, sure they had faded a little bit (which lip product doesn’t?) but the colour was still there as was the moistursing factor and being someone who suffers dry lips I normally find that’s gone within at least 10 minutes max. The moisturising properties and the colour stayed put for at least 5 hours and for a tinted lip balm there is only one word for that and that is; remarkable.
Unlike many brands which I swear use dish washing detergent as the flavouring in their lip products; for these tinted lip balms summery, fun and fruity are the only words I can think of to describe the scent and flavour. It’s subtle but it definitely has that gorgeous yummy fruity flavour we are all after when it comes to lip products and at some point you may even find yourself wanting to lick your lips (gasp; don’t do that! You’ll only find your lips will become drier!) I love that this scent is subtle and practically caters to everyone’s taste as it’s nice but it’s not overpowering to the point all you want to do is grab the nearest tissue and blot it all off.
Chemicals are something I don’t like. Especially in my beauty products that go on my face every single day and as this lip balm is 100% natural and free of parabens, petroleum, mineral oil and other nasties I have another reason to love this product.
Overall I really love Burt’s Bee’s Tinted Lip balms, they feel light on the lips, provide more the adequate hydration, have a gorgeous butter like texture that glides onto the lips easily, taste & smell great and have fantastic pigmentation; what more could you ask for?
